Jennifer Maternity Session | Start Louisiana Maternity Photographer

Wow, this session is way over due!!  Having gone through a rough pregnancy and then recovery from a C-Section has made me so behind.  But I’m catching up.  I still need to blog a wedding from June and then I should be caught up on my blogging.

Hope you enjoy these maternity photos!  Jen and I had a blast taking them.

Introducing…

Our sweet little man, Cannon!!!  And our new services that will be available mid January!!!

We went to the hospital at about 5:00am Sunday the 4th since my contractions were constant the previous day and night, and I wasn’t getting any relief.  After several hours of waiting to see if I would progress naturally, I had not dilated enough to be considered in active labor.  So they gave me a choice of either going home or inducing me.  I was pretty adamant about not being induced, but after speaking with me family and realizing I would just go home in pain, I decided to stay at the hospital.  Thank the good Lord they administered an epidural first cause I don’t think I could have handled much more pain.  Of course after a few hours of no progress, I spiked a fever of 102 so they had to do an emergency C-Section.  I immediately started shaking with anxiety.  I’ve never had any surgery, and it was already so much going through having an IV, epidural, and catheter.  I know I sound like a big baby, but I’m not fond of needles so the thought of them cutting me open was scary, but they had to do it to protect our little guy.  It took them about 30 minutes to prepare me and give me something else in my epidural which worked wonderfully!  Once I was wheeled into the sterile room and set up on monitors, they let Cliff come in.  I’m so glad they let him be with me.  I was a nervous wreck!  It took them a while to get Cannon out since he had already made his way down my birth canal.  Another complication was that he was drowning in fluid so they were rushing to get him out.  I could hear them beating on him across the room to get all the fluid out of his lungs.  Once they had him out and were cleaning me up, my doctor noticed that there was some gooey dark stuff inside of me.  They cleaned it up and realized that I had a cyst on my right ovary that had ruptured.  They were able to remove it and save my ovary as well as my life!  God had his hands on me that day for sure.  If they had not done the C-Section, they wouldn’t have found the ruptured cyst.  I could have died of sepsis.  (I’m sure they would have realized something was wrong later if I had started getting worse, but because of the events that took place, everything was done in a timely manner to prevent anything bad from happening).  We are truly blessed to still be here.   I was in surgery for about 2 hours (at least that’s what Cliff said-I was out of it so I had no idea how long I was in there).  I think I was in recovery for about an hour because I didn’t get to my room until after 12:00 am.  They brought Cannon to me shortly after that, but I couldn’t pick him up since I was still numb from my chest down.  After him being in the room with me for about 30 minutes, a nurse came and got him to admit him to the NICU.  He was treated for pneumonia and sepsis just in case.  And he stayed for 7 days.  He is a healthy little guy, and we are so glad to have him home.

It has been 16 days since then, and I’m doing pretty good.  I can get around easier than I did when I was pregnant.  I’m still a bit sore, and my incision still has to heal, but I’m doing great. Cannon is growing oh so fast!  I’m so glad we were able to capture his newborn pictures before he changed too much.  He was 9 days old when we did them, and he has actually been the easiest newborn we have ever photographed.  He slept the whole time, and he even waited to do his business until after we put his diaper back on.  LOL!  He is so sweet and precious!

I am still shooting for mid January after my 6 week check up to take on any sessions.  And we are offering studio sessions for newborns to small children.  Isn’t it nice to be able to do your photo session indoors?!  We have more backdrops than the one above so there will be a variety, and we will continue to get more.  See below for our 2012 price list for portrait and mini-sessions.  Also, the new minimum order requirement is $200 per session.  We will be running a special in February to make up for having to close shop sooner than we anticipated so check back then to get your session at a great deal!

Branch Family | Start Louisiana Family Portrait Photographer

I know I’m terrible for taking so long to finish these photos and blog them!  But I have a good excuse.  Being pregnant has slowed me down, and getting prepared for our little guy has taken quite a bit of our time.  I will do better when I’m back up and running in January/February.

This is technically part 1 of their sessions. Part 2 is just of my friend Jennifer’s maternity photos.  I will be done with them shortly so check back for those soon.
